Kristin-
I came across your page and admire you for putting yourself out there. I have DM and was dx'd in July 2005. My CPK was 13866! Straight to the Pred and MTX, but I also did the minocycline. I did really well and "bounced" back. After moving out-of-state and starting a new job, the past year has been a roller coaster and tweaking of meds. Most recently I went to Iowa and had the IV Clindamycin, it has helped tremendously! My muscles and joints were aching so badly I kept rubbing them, even though my hands were too tired to do it...you know the drill. Anyway, I did have immediate relief and was able to flex my feet without feeling like the muscles were being pulled from the bone. I have continued to get some strength back and my CPK is down to 2650 from a high of 8700 this past July. I am at 35mg Pred daily, 17.5mg MTX weekly, 200mg minocycline bid and various other supplements...23 to be exact;)
I wondered if you take Magnesium? I take that (250mg) at bedtime with a muscle relaxer and a 5mg Ambien. I think that the Ambien will help you get the rest that you so desperatley need. You may wake up feeling like you have been hit by a mack truck and there are still days when I have to go back to bed and sleep a few extra hours, but at least it's sleep:) I also have my N.P. write for 10mg pills and then I cut them..that way I can get a two month supply from one copay. It has also gone generic and my pharmacist told me that people have been saying it is not as effective, I haven't tried the generic that I have yet because I have such an abundance of the name-brand.
I have recently had to take medical leave from my position as a dental assistant and have filed for disability. It just got to be too much stress and co-workers are not understanding.
Hope this helps:) Thanks for listening:)
